About AfroLegal

We are a legal administrative consultancy and community justice NGO built to bridge the gap between complex legal systems and everyday people who can't access or afford formal representation.

AfroLegal was born from a simple truth: justice shouldn't require privilege. Too many people lose employment disputes, visa applications, benefits appeals, and ombudsman cases not because they lack merit, but because they lack administrative support, professional formatting, and strategic guidance.

From Grassroots to Accessible Justice

AfroLegal started in community centers, helping individuals navigate DWP appeals, immigration renewals, and HR grievances with nothing but templates printed from a home computer.

What began as informal advice sessions grew into a structured model: professional document preparation, organized case files, volunteer legal clinics, and a platform for community stories that expose systemic failures.

Today, we serve clients across the UK, working with volunteers from legal firms, HR departments, and immigration advisory services. We've helped hundreds of people take control of their cases, and we've published dozens of features highlighting injustice in bureaucratic systems.

We don't represent you legally. We empower you to represent yourself.

Community meeting and support

Our Core Values

These principles guide every case we support and every story we amplify.

Community First

We serve everyday people who face systemic barriers to justice and legal support.

Empowerment Through Knowledge

We believe knowledge is power. We equip people to represent themselves with confidence.

Ethical & Transparent

We maintain clear boundaries, never misrepresenting our services or crossing into legal practice.

Collective Action

Individual cases connect to systemic change. We amplify community voices through advocacy.

What Makes AfroLegal Different

A. Empowerment Model (Not Legal Representation)

We don't represent you in court or give legal advice. Instead, we give you the administrative infrastructure and strategic clarity to speak for yourself. This approach builds long-term capability, not dependence.

B. Volunteer Legal Clinics (Monthly)

Every month, we connect community members with volunteer lawyers, paralegals, and HR specialists for free consultations. These experts review cases, answer questions, and provide strategic guidance. AfroLegal handles all the admin.

C. Hybrid of Legal Admin + Human Rights Journalism

This is what makes AfroLegal truly unique. Clients can contribute anonymized stories to our Justice Journal. We curate Letters to the Editor, case features, and systemic issue investigations. This platform amplifies overlooked voices and drives awareness of institutional failures.

Our Volunteer Network

AfroLegal is powered by professionals who believe access to justice shouldn't depend on income.

Case Administrators

Trained professionals who review documents, organize case files, and provide strategic admin support.

Volunteer Legal Professionals

Lawyers, paralegals, and HR specialists who donate time monthly to provide expert guidance.

Community Coordinators

Connect clients to resources, manage clinic schedules, and curate Justice Journal features.

Our Code of Ethics

-

We will never misrepresent ourselves as providing legal advice or legal representation.

-

We will always direct clients to qualified solicitors when their case requires legal representation.

-

We maintain strict confidentiality unless clients consent to anonymized publication in the Justice Journal.

-

We operate with full transparency regarding our fees, our services, and our limitations.

-

We prioritize vulnerable clients through our Solidarity Fund, ensuring income never blocks access.

-

We advocate for systemic change while providing individual support, recognizing both are essential.

Important: What We Are NOT

AfroLegal is NOT a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or act as solicitors. We are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

We provide administrative support, document preparation, case organization, and strategic guidance to help you represent yourself in legal and bureaucratic processes.

Our volunteer legal clinics connect you with qualified professionals who can provide expert guidance, but this is not a substitute for formal legal representation where required.

If your case requires court representation or formal legal advice, we will direct you to appropriate qualified solicitors or legal aid services.
